Buildings that seek LEED® (Leadership in Energy & Environment Design) certification require mats to contain the traction of dirt and other elements. More specifically, each primary entry from the outdoors needs a permanent walk-off mat designed and installed which allows cleaning access, for example, through grating with a catch basis.
Based on our extensive experience, our certified technicians also recommend non-permanent walk-off mats for other entry points. The size of the mats depends on the type of building.
It’s a good idea and required by LEED to schedule regular maintenance of walk-off and roll-out mats to protect against dirt brought into buildings by shoes. Walk-off mats can be manufactured from a number of fabrics. Our mat-cleaning experts have the knowledge to identify the fabrics and assess proper cleaning methodology.
